Rex Heathcote Furniture

Rex started the extraordinary furniture collection at the end of 2006.

This was in response to a few factors; 1) Rex having a drawing book full of unmade ideas; 2) the opportunity to be a part of a large exhibition of contemporary furniture in Tasmania; 3) a desire to challenge the men and women who do the making at Rex Heathcote Furniture; and finally, a real desire by Rex to use some exotic Tasmanian veneers rarely seen or used today.

Each piece is designed by Rex, either to a very basic client brief or for exhibition purposes to show what can be achieved given time.  As like many other craft professions at the moment, time and skill is in short supply.

This collection aims to go beyond those restraints to produce something quiet special; a real one of a kind Rex Heathcote designed piece of furniture to be used and admired for generations to come.
